Das Lacrosse-Programm von Notre Dame zählt nicht nur zu den Besten der US College Liga NCAA, die “Fighting Irish” mit glänzend goldenen Helmen zählen auch zu den großen Botschaftern des internationalen Lacrossesports. Alle vier Jahre unternimmt das Team eine internationale Reise, um mit und gegen andere Nationen zu Spielen und Lacrosse in die Welt zu tragen. Bereits 1995 erfolgte der erste Trip, wie könnte es anders sein, nach Irland. Es folgen Aufenthalte in Irland, England und Wales (2001), der Tschechischen Republik (2005), Japan (2005), Italien (2014) und Spanien (2018).
Der Deutsche Lacrosse Verband (DLaxV) freut sich sehr, das Team um Headcoach Kevin Corrigan Anfang Juni 2022 in Deutschland willkommen zu heißen und Teil einer langen Tradition zu werden.
Zu Beginn der mehrtägigen Deutschlandtour steht aber Lacrosse im Vordergrund. In Frankfurt am Main, auf dem Gelände des SC 1880 Frankfurt, werden Spiele und Clinics mit und gegen europäische Nationalmannschaften ausgetragen. Da der Besuch auf das Wochenende der Deutschen Jugendmeisterschaften (4.-5. Juni) fällt, hat sich der DLaxV kurzerhand entschlossen, beide Veranstaltungen zu kombinieren und für alle Beteiligten die maximale Lacrosse-Erfahrung zu ermöglichen. So schildert Simon Krause:
“Wir alle sind begeistert neben der Germany Lacrosse Convnetion und der Box Lacrosse Europameisterschaft ein weiteres Highlight im Lacrossekalender 2022 bieten zu können und freuen uns besonders, dass die Juniorinnen und Junioren von der Aufmerksamkeit des Aufenthalts profitieren, aber auch den ein oder anderen Trick von den Profis aus den USA lernen können”

Der organisatorische Aufwand ist auch durch die weiterhin ausgebreitete Pandemie erschwert, aber die gute Organisation des Scheider Cups im Herbst 2021 stimmt das Organisationsteam in Deutschland positiv. Auch wenn das Risiko einer kurzfristigen Absage aufgrund der Pandemie leider nicht vollständig ausgeschlossen werden kann, sind alle positiv und zuversichtlich gestimmt und freuen sich auf einzigartige Erfahrungen und Austausch unter Lacrosse Freunden.
Notre Dame Lacrosse Tour 2022 to Germany
Notre Dame's lacrosse program is not only one of the best in the U.S. college league NCAA, the "Fighting Irish" with shiny gold helmets are also among the great ambassadors of international lacrosse. Every four years, the team makes an international trip to play with and against other nations and spread lacrosse around the world. As early as 1995, the first trip, how could it be otherwise, was to Ireland. Visits to Ireland, England and Wales (2001), the Czech Republic (2005), Japan (2005), Italy (2014) and Spain (2018) followed. The German Lacrosse Association (DLaxV) is very excited to welcome the team around head coach Kevin Corrigan to Germany in early June 2022 and to become part of a long tradition. At the beginning of the multi-day tour of Germany lacrosse is the center of attention. Games and clinics with and against European national teams will be held in Frankfurt am Main on the fields of SC 1880 Frankfurt. Since the visit falls on the weekend of the German Youth Championships (June 4th-5th), DLaxV has decided to combine both events and to provide the maximum lacrosse experience for all participants. As Simon Krause, president of DLaxV, describes:
"We are all thrilled to be able to host another highlight in the 2022 lacrosse calendar besides the Germany Lacrosse Convention and European Box Lacrosse Championships and are particularly pleased that the junior players will benefit from the attention of the visit, but will also be able to learn a trick or two from pro-players from the US."

The organizational effort is enhanced given the pandemic, but a good organization of the Schneider Cup, an international youth lacrosse tournament in Frankfurt, makes the organization team in Germany optimistic. Even though the risk of a cancellation at short notice due to the pandemic can unfortunately not be completely ruled out, everyone is positive and confident and looks forward to unique experiences and exchanges among lacrosse friends.
